Elevate Advocates

Elevate New York, with the help of business professionals in New York City, mentored 50 high school students, who in turn, mentored 21 elementary students. This year, our 50 students will mentor 120 fourth & fifth graders at PS 335, which is across the street from Banana Kelly High School. Last year’s pilot was successful and we are excited to take the next step in bringing our program to scale.

Our pilot year was successful because of your generosity, and we would like to continue our partnership with you, to take Elevate NY to the next level. We are asking our individual supporters, as well as corporations to become Elevate Advocates. An Elevate Advocate gives $1/day or $365/year and gets 4 other people to do the same. This amount of $1,825, supports the mentoring of 1 student for an entire year. A total of 170 Advocates helps us get close to our Model Replication Year 1 Budget of $329,100. We believe this is sustainable in New York City. Last year we ran a successful pilot for $126,152 and we’re excited about this next phase.

Our Advocates will allow us to provide more opportunities like this one above at Instinet, LLC. Every week, under-exposed students from the Bronx will have an opportunity to learn from business professionals, who are leaders in their sphere of influence. As we all know, exposure is one of the key ingredients that many of these students need to begin dreaming and then ultimately reaching their full potential in life. If our students never see what’s available outside of their neighborhoods, they’ll never realize, that they can attain positions at Fortune 500 companies, as well.

Your partnership will allow us to go from taking 2 students to 1 game in 2010-2011, to taking 20 or more students to multiple sporting events in NYC this year. Elvis and Kelvin (pictured above) will be stronger leaders next year, because of this opportunity to connect with them, outside of the classroom setting.

$1,825 x 170 students = $310,250

Year 1 Model Replication Budget = $329,100
