2023 White Shirt Ceremony

Historically, Bronx Studio School for Writers and Artists (BSSWA) students have worn school uniforms. The uniform requirement was lifted after the return from virtual learning, however, BSSWA continues to honor this long-standing tradition and celebrate their seniors with their annual white shirt ceremony. Traditionally 9th-11th grade students wear navy blue shirts and 12th grade students wear white shirts. The white shirt celebrates their journey to their senior year.

The white shirt ceremony, hosted by the Principal and Assistant Principals, congratulates students on becoming a senior and encourages them to thrive during their final year of high school. Each student is presented with a personalized white shirt to wear with pride. This celebration is bittersweet for staff and students. Everyone is proud of all the work each student has put in and excited to see where their new journeys will lead them. To end the ceremony the senior class puts on their new shirts and gets a class picture in front of the school.
