On April 12th, 16 Elevate Girls and 9 chaperones went to Washington, DC for the Vital Voices Awards Ceremony at the Kennedy Center. As a donation to Elevate, Instinet LLC covered the cost of transportation and hotels for four of their staff to be part of our chaperone team. Instinet also paid for our tour bus that transported us in style around our nation’s capital. Thank You Instinet!!!

March 14, 2011 - Elevate NY is a Bronx-based organization that helps at risk youth from disadvantaged families and those which find themselves in even tougher conditions than before because of the great recession. The organization provides the students of the Banana Kelly High School in the Bronx with classes on leadership, vision, and career possibilities; it offers long-term mentoring and recreational programs where the students bond with their mentors over trips such as hiking in Vermont.

Thanks to Elevate Advisory Board member, Kevin McGovern, Lt. Isaac Pelt and Brian Rathjen visited our Banana Kelly Elevate class. Lt. Pelt currently recruits for the Naval Academy and Brian volunteers with the Blue & Gold Program. Brian graduated from the Academy and is now a Senior Managing Director at Kelson Group in Manhattan. We hope that some of our students will follow his path.
