Spring Semester: so much to celebrate

Teacher Mentors have had 131 days of instruction as of April 5th. Curricula is centered around our seven-character quality for success - vision, courage, respect, caring, responsibility, positive work ethic, and integrity- and our six skills for success- communication, leadership, career mindedness, problem solving, decision making, and goal setting. Students collaborate with each other and staff through experiential learning, group activities, and discussions. Pictured here are students practicing active listening through role play. Students debated the importance of listening and formulate ways to practice effective listening with others

Spring Healthy Living Series

During the week of April 25- 29th Elevate will be hosting a Healthy Living series aimed to support the physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, financial, intellectual, and social wellbeing of a student's life. We will be joined by various professionals who will provide their insights and best practices in these seven areas. These experiences give students the opportunity to connect with professionals and create meaningful learning connections.

BSSWA Honors Banquet

We are encouraged and inspired by BSSWA's Semester 1 Honors Banquet; it was wonderful to see our students celebrated alongside their families beaming with pride!

White T-Shirt Ceremony

Historically, Bronx Studio School for Writers and Artists (BSSWA) students have worn school uniforms. This academic year the uniform requirement was lifted as part of the efforts to make the transition from virtual learning to in-person learning easier. Despite the temporary uniform lift, BSSWA celebrated their seniors with their annual white shirt ceremony. Traditionally 9th-11th grade students wear navy blue shirts and 12th grade students wear white shirts. The white shirt celebrates their journey to their senior year. The white shirt ceremony, hosted by the Principal and Vice Principals, congratulates students on becoming a senior and encourages them to thrive during their final year of high school. Each student is presented with a personalized white shirt to wear with pride.
